Visit Alvar Aalto is an online service created around Aalto’s architecture, and it caters to both Finnish and international culture-hungry travelers. For the very first time a fascinating selection of Aalto’s designs from different decades and various parts of Finland is collected in one place.
Along with information on architectural sites, the website makes it easier to plan trips, with practical information including opening hours and maps of each site, travel timetables and travel-agency contact details.
We designed and implemented the website starting from aesthetic, usability and sales goals, and chose WordPress as the platform due to its ease and flexibility in continuous development, and to avoid vendor locking.
In addition to being multilingual, the online service needs to be comfortably used especially with mobile devices, which are often used during travel. Desktop versions are heavily used as well, though, according to our studies. Development to the site is done based on user- and usability testing, where product information and placement of content is being improved to help achieve better results.
