Slush time!

Slush

It’s on! The week of #slush14 hype has started and we are ready ๐Ÿ™‚

Who to meet at Slush?

We have had the pleasure of getting to know some kickass startups during our 3 year adventure. Some are founded by friends, some also started from the Aalto Design Factory like we did, and some we have been lucky to get to know through different events.

Go and meet up with the following startup teams at Slush and feel free to say hi from us boonconians ๐Ÿ™‚

Caktus & the Hug โ€“ stay hydrated!

Do you wish to feel, perform and live better? Then you’d better stay proprely hydrated ๐Ÿ˜‰

The Caktus team has developed a dream solution for making this easy. The Hug is a sensor you add to your drinking bottle and the app let’s you know if you’re drinking enough to stay on top of your game.

Drinking a sufficient amount of water helps you to:

  • increase your mental efficiency
  • improve your physical performance
  • give you a better skin
  • help you lose weight
  • keep your organs healthy

So, how do you know what’s a sufficient amount of water to drink? Don’t worry, you don’t have to know, The Hug will tell you ๐Ÿ˜‰

Sign up and be among the first ones to know when the Hug is launched!

Slush = long days filled with excitement, remember to stay hydrated!

Smarp

Employee advocacy is huge, and only getting bigger. You’ve probably heard of these guys ๐Ÿ™‚

Smarp is the team behind Smarpshare, a platform making it easy for companies to motivate their employees to share professional content to their external social media networks.

The platform is a smart one. Through gamification elements employees are encouraged to share interesting posts relating to the company they work for. Nothing is compulsory, but based on voluntarity and an honest desire to act as a spokesperson for one’s employer, which is what companies should enable and encourage. The video below explains more:

Smarp’s CEO Roope Heinilรค was grilled about employee advocacy a few weeks back on an interview with BBC, take a look:

Videolle

Watch a lot of trailers, recaps or full videos from events? You’ve probably seen some Videolle production.

Known as the “most agile video production company in Finland” this team is definitely worth getting to know. They are also on a mission of making video production available for everybody and offer an easy and inexpensive way of making the video you need, read more from their website (in Finnish).

This Ruisrock after movie sums up an appropriate mood for this Slush hype week:

meshly

So many people, teams, startups and companies to get familiar with and only two days of actual Slush time โ€“ maximise your networking experience with meshly.

This only recently published application (available now for iOS in the Appstore, Android version in the making) has tackled a prominent niche in networking โ€“ it brings networking to you. Based on either filtering or your location, you can see who is close by (for example at the same event with you) and by messaging them directly in the app, agree on a meeting. You can also see who’s attending future events and plan for a meetup in advance.

Our team tested the application during Web Summit in Dublin and liked it already there. The meshly team has been working and improving the app constantly and we are more than excited to test its full potential during Slush.

meshly in action

Psst.. meshly was also featured in Slush’s article “3 startups to get you in the mood for Slush” yesterday.

Startup Santa Claus

This one should be obvious. Make sure you meet Startup Santa Claus!

Startup Santa Claus

In addition to being probably the coolest person you can meet, Startup Santa Claus is also on an important mission โ€“ย he is gathering donations for the Finnish Unicef, the Finnish Evangelic Lutheran Mission and the Finnish Red Cross. Do your good deed of the day and donate for a good cause, you can pay with card too, thanks to iZettle.
