Modern day muses

inspiration

Creative work blooms from inspiration. Whether in search of ideas for a customer’s new website, a new printed brochure or topics for interesting tweets, we are continuously searching for quality sources to nourish our imagination.

To make some sense in the overwhelming amount of tech, development and design blogs, newspapers, design forums and galleries out there, we decided to pick our favourites and list them here.

“You can’t wait for inspiration. You have to go after it with a club.” – Jack London

Our list of favourites is a mixture of news services, videos, hard core tech blogs and design inspiration sites. It has picks from our developers, designers and marketing & sales people.

ArcticStartup

News from our home region. ArcticStartup is a technology blog we read almost daily to stay up-to-date with all the current happenings near us. This week we were happy to read about Smarp rounding up €225k in the seed round!

iA blog

iA doesn’t post new stuff too often. However, when it does the quality is outstanding. Our favourite piece is from March 2013 with the title “Learning to See”. Our new team members found it eye-opening (no pun intended) and a good introduction to the design world. Companions already longer in the field think it is a good read and reminds you why you fell in love with design in the first place.

“Learning to design is learning to see, an adventure that gets more and more captivating the further you go. A love letter to my profession…” – Oliver Reichenstein

Swissmiss

This one never lets us down. Swissmiss is a blog with a broad selection of interesting design news. The content varies from showcasing clever furniture design and funny tattoos to reviews of beautiful and functional apps and short project videos. We adore the video about Pencil Stylus.

A List Apart

A List Apart is a blog we check on a regular basis. Why? It has always interesting entries with a fresh perspective. One of these is the most recent entry “Why Sass?”. Dan Cederholm writes about Sass and how his own opinion changed dramatically from not even wanting to try it to actually seeing the pros of the system.

A List Apart is a blog exploring the design, development and meaning of web content with a special focus on web standards and best practices. It first started as a mailing list in 1997 and launched its website in 1998.

Good News from Finland

Good News from Finland is a news page we visit every week. It’s a great source for good news from our home area and to be frank, especially in this economical situation you need to read and share the good stuff to stay optimistic 🙂 This week we shared an article about the entrepreneurial attitude of Finland – “Finns have second most positive attitude in the world towards entrepreneurship”

Muse-in Muse-out

In addition to these amazing sources upheld by some pretty talented and wise people, we have one more source for inspiration without which we wouldn’t survive a day.

Nature.

Every once in a while remember to shut down the device your using to read this. Go outside, by the sea, in the woods, stroll down the streets, whatever is your cup of tea – and let the inspiration come to you 🙂

Do you think we left out a good source? Please recommend your favourites to us!
